GREENVILLE – A new mural designed by Greenville High School’s Career Art Class of 2026 was installed today by the Greenville Mural Committee on the building housing the Hallmark store in downtown Greenville.
This mural sends the message “You Matter” to all who view it, representing the widespread grassroots effort to ensure that people feel seen, heard, and valued. The concept was suggested to the Mural Committee by member Joe Wintrow following a series of tragic events in the Greenville community, and taken on as a project by the GHS Art Class under the leadership of instructor Nicole Hawk.
The mural uses vibrant imagery along with an encouraging message to represent the collaborative effort undertaken to spread positivity and raise awareness about mental health as well as to support healing within the community and to inspire kindness. The design highlights the importance of every individual’s voice, sending the message that it is possible for each of us to make a meaningful impact.
The student artists who created the mural are Marissa Boney, Kendall Cromwell, Cheyenne Gear, Lila Grisez, Madeline Lance, Ivan Langdon, Jadyn Norris, Kindyl Peltz, Kelsey Redmond, Jocelyn Reier, Malieki Rhoades, Elizabeth Stout, Annabel Vance. Wyatt Warner, Gabriel Werner, and Ozzie Woolery. Support for this project was received from Darke County Endowment for the Arts, Ohio Arts Council, Lydia E. Schaurer Memorial Trust Fund, Ketrow Foundation, and Rotary of Greenville.
The mural was installed by Wintrow Signs. The committee also offers appreciation to the owners of the building, John Baumgardner and Aubrey Baumgardner, without whose cooperation, the completion of this project would not have been possible.
Watch this week’s Tuesdays with Tonya to see the installation near completion.
