GREENVILLE – The Fort GreeneVille Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and Greenville Union Cemetery Superintendent Tracy Tryon have announced a transition in leadership roles for the local Wreaths Across America program at Greenville Union Cemetery.

Beginning with the upcoming cycle, Greenville Union Cemetery will assume the sponsorship group and location coordinator responsibilities, while the Fort GreeneVille Chapter DAR will continue its longstanding role as volunteers and donors in support of the event.

“It’s been an honor to help guide this meaningful event, but the time has come to pass the torch,” said Debbie Nisonger, Chapter Regent. “I’m excited for fresh eyes and new energy to carry it forward, continuing its legacy of ‘Remember, Honor, Teach.’

“We look forward to continuing the legacy that the DAR has provided for the past several years,” said Tryon.

“Every organization has its moment, and mine, along with member Chris Nehring, in leading this event has been deeply rewarding,” Nisonger continued. “Our DAR chapter has met such wonderful volunteers and veterans since this local event began in 2018. The pride in our community for never forgetting our veterans is beyond words, especially in our goal of covering every veteran’s grave at the cemetery.”

The Fort GreeneVille Chapter DAR will continue overseeing wreath participation at Historical Water Street Cemetery, St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, and Stelvideo Cemetery.

National Wreaths Across America Day in 2026 will be observed on Saturday, December 19.

Wreaths Across America is once again offering a matching program for all wreaths sponsored between December 13 and December 31, 2025. For every wreath sponsored at $17, participating cemeteries will receive an additional wreath.

This matching program has been instrumental in placing wreaths on all 1,636 veterans’ graves at Greenville Union Cemetery over the past several years. Locally, Greenville Union Cemetery and the Fort GreeneVille Chapter DAR have participated in Wreaths Across America since 2018.

During the transition period, wreaths may be sponsored by sending checks directly to:

Greenville Union Cemetery
200 West Street
Greenville, OH 45331

Checks should be made payable to “Wreaths Across America.”

To ensure sponsorship credit is properly assigned to Greenville Union Cemetery, donors are encouraged to complete their sponsorships by December 31, 2025. The wreath match will be honored only for checks dated and postmarked between December 13 and December 31, 2025. After the transition, wreaths may be ordered online through Wreaths Across America.

Wreath sponsorship checks may also be dropped off in person at Greenville Union Cemetery before December 31.
