William D. McClure, 71, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at 8:06 PM at the Brethren Retirement Community. William was born February 21, 1952, in Darke County, Ohio, the son of the late Harry J. and Phyllis (McNutt) McClure.
William served his country honorably in the United States Army, serving in Germany during the Vietnam War. He worked as a security guard at Fram; he loved the outdoors, especially hiking and wildlife.
William is preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, and his sister, Rita McClure.
William is survived by his wife of 29 years, Shirley A. (Melling) McClure of Greenville, whom he married February 8, 1994; his stepson Gary Joe Bickel; his step-grandchildren, Taylor Thompson, Sarah Bickel, Savannah Bickel, and Gage Bickel; his siblings, Nancy and John Crowell, Steven McClure, Shirley Slade, and Barbara Schaffer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Per William’s wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
