William (Bill) Rich, age 81, of Greenville, OH, died on January 24, 2026, at his home. He was born on January 21, 1945, in Maplewood, OH, to the late Wallace and Dorothy (Fashner) Rich. William worked several different jobs in his time, including being a police officer 1968-1979, also an over-the-road truck driver and owning his own truck. In his free time, he enjoyed Woodworking and volunteering for the Darke County Parks.
William (Bill) was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. If you knew him, you were loved by him. He was always a giving person and never knew a stranger. He took much pride in everything he did, very honest, and followed the law to the extent. He will be missed by many.
He leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Sandra Rich; children, Melissa (Jevon) Laux of Lewisburg, John (Vicki) Meyer of Arcanum, David (Judy) Meyer of Arcanum, Stephanie Meyer of Greenville, and Greg Meyer of Arcanum; siblings, Walt (Helen) Rich of Greenville,
Evelyn Goff of Greenville, Sharon Lingle of Greenville, and Roy (Kim) Dohme of Greenville.
Grandchildren, Colten Laux, Meridith Laux, Shannon (Chad) Whitacre, Sierra Meyer (Sam), Scott (Audra) Meyer, Kile Meyer, Shante Meier, India Hickman (Corbin), Andrew (Yichang) Hickman, Alyson Hickman (Ryan), Taylor Hickman (Brandon), Jessie Hickman (Andrew), Devon Meyer and Dustin Meyer. Along with several Great Grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter Tanya Rich Smith, Grandson, Garion Smith, his siblings, Wallace Rich Jr, Eileen Setser, Leona Wolford, and Donna Mead
A visitation will be held on Feb 3, 2026, 11am – 12 noon at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 131 E. 4th Street, Greenville, OH 45331. A funeral service will follow at 12 noon, officiated by Pastor Bryan Stensaas. Cremation will take place after services. Flowers may be delivered to the church on DAY between TIMES. Memorial contributions may be made to the church in honor of William.
