Willard “Bill” Magoto, 91 of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 8:41 PM at his residence. Bill was born April 4, 1933 in Versailles, Ohio, the son of the late Henry and Ethel (Ely) Magoto.
Bill served his country honorably in the United States Army 101st Airborne in the Korean War. He was the shipping and receiving manager at Sonoco Products in Piqua, Ohio. Bill was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, the Versailles VFW, and the Knights of Columbus.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Todd J. Magoto; his siblings and spouses, Alma and Ferd Gehret, Emma and Joe Barhorst, Mariam and Orville Grilliot, Clara and Don Rismiller, Carl and Sara Magoto, Robert and Mary Jane Magoto, and Norbert “John” Magoto.
Bill is survived by his wife, Lois (Fink) Magoto of Versailles whom he married August 3, 1957; his children and spouse, Jerry Magoto and Lisa Ward of Versailles, Amy and Tim Brinkman of San Francisco, CA.; his grandchildren, Josh Magoto and Kendra Ganger, Molly and Charlie Shaw, Arielle Brinkman, Alexandra Brinkman, Todd and Holly Worsham, Tyrus and Brittany Worsham, Bryan Ward, and Dylan Olinger; great-grandchild, Raylan, Arlo, Noah, Izzy, Tyrus Jr., Gracie, Blaze, and Asher; his sister in law, Martha Magoto; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 10:30 AM at St. Denis Catholic Church 14 East Wood Street, Versailles, Ohio with Rev. Fr, Ned Brown Celebrant. Burial with military honors by the Versailles Veterans Honor Guard will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 and from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM on Thursday at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio.
