GREENVILLE—In Tuesday’s May 2 Republican Primary, there was just one contested race.
After a close election, Jeff Whitaker won by 53% over John Baumgardner for the next Mayor of Greenville.
Whitaker received 669 votes, with Baumgardner just short at 598 votes.
Additional elections on the ballot included City Auditor, Law Director and City Council Wards one, two, three and four. All those races were uncontested.

Law Director —Michael Rieman
City Council Ward One —Clarence Godwin
City Council Ward Two —Delores Ely
City Council Ward Three —No valid petition filed
City Council Ward Four —Chris Norris
