Looking back on life now that I am having some mobility issues, I can’t imagine that I would have roller-skated, but I did.
I played on a soccer team and skated almost weekly for a number of years at the Versailles rink and, at times, I even skated at the Greenville and Piqua rinks.
I loved all of the friends we made and enjoyed the music at these events.
But, never more. Those days are gone. I can’t even run. I also enjoyed that, especially when we played softball in the front yard of our home or at other family functions, not to mention one summer when I played on a team with female classmates in Ansonia.
I hope I will get some of these things back, but I know I will never put on another pair of skates again. I value my bones too much.
In the meantime, I will get around the best I can….sometimes with my cane and other times with my walker. But at the house, I have lots of furniture to hang on to if I need to.
I don’t want to do any more damage to myself. Life is too precious.
So, I will just wait and hopefully there will be a solution to these mobility issues in the near future. In the meantime, I am reading all about joint stiffness, inflammation and such. I have even purchased some special items that are said to help with some of these symptoms, so I just have to give it time.
And son Jamie has been a big help to me by offering his hand to help me get around and he will go get what we need at the store while I sit in the car. He’s doing a great job.

Speaking of Jamie, he reminded me once again that today it is Hulk Hogan’s birthday and, secondly, is the 25th anniversary of my right kidney removal.
He’s still missing Hulk, who passed away on July 24, but life gets a little better for him one day at a time.
