When in doubt… Google

In my years as a journalist, the computer has been the greatest invention.

And with that, now I’m also very fond of Google.

I never thought you could teach an old dog new tricks, but I’ve learned quite a bit in recent decades, but admittedly not enough to solve certain technological problems.

When I was younger, I would never have thought I would ever work on a computer, but now I don’t know what I would ever do without one.

And, my introduction to Google has magnified that same feeling.

I feel like a pest whenever I have to ask for help with a computer-related problem, but you can’t get the problem resolved if you don’t ask or plead for help.

I am not technically inclined, but I am so thankful for this web-based search engine, which was launched in 1998.

I am also a crossword puzzle lover and, if I get stuck on figuring one out, I turn to Google. It’s so smart. And, you don’t have a long wait to get a response back. I don’t consider it cheating, but a learning experience.

Unlike youth today, people my age didn’t even have computers when growing up. Then, when computers were introduced at work, maybe 20 or 30 years ago, I was a little terrified, but I caught on.

Just recently, I googled to find out how I could possibly cure my leg, knee, ankle and sometimes back pain problems.

I came up with a boatload of ideas, which I am going to keep in mind and try whenever an issue arises. I plan to figure out at my next doctor visit what I can do about getting an actual diagnosis.

In the meantime, I am depending on my cane, a walker and son Jamie to keep me upright.
