I hope this Newsletter finds you well. Warm weather and a smoky atmosphere have been common in Darke County, and some recent rains have continued to keep Western Ohio out of the “abnormally dry” designation as the growing season continues (https://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/CurrentMap/StateDroughtMonitor.aspx?OH). The crops continue to make progress, with corn tasseling and wheat coming off the fields. Remember to stay safe on the roads as farm equipment travels from place to place.
If you’re interested in the next Darke County Garden Roundtable, our next session will be held at the OSU Extension Office on Wednesday, July 29th at 6:00 p.m.
The next Darke County Ag Breakfast will be Friday, July 24th at 7:30 a.m. at Jack’s Cabin in Greenville.
This week’s Newsletter topics include:
- Cattle Slaughter Update
- Keeping Cattle Cool in the Summer
- Managing Heat on the Farm
- Scouting for Rust on Cool-Season Forages
- Scouting Summer Crop Insects
- Watering Cattle—Quantity and Quality
I hope you enjoy this week’s Newsletter, and as always, never hesitate to reach out to me and let me know how I can best serve you and all of Darke County.
Best,
