I hope this Newsletter finds you well. Steady rains have continued throughout Darke County and neighboring areas, keeping us out of any drought designations (https://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/CurrentMap/StateDroughtMonitor.aspx?OH Pesticide applications have continued in the fields, often coming from drones and crop dusters. Palmer amaranth, waterhemp, giant ragweed, velvetleaf, and foxtail are among the common weeds we’re seeing in fields and gardens.
As the gardens continue to grow and much of the crops are being harvested, its always a great time to stop in at the Darke County Garden Roundtable. Our next session will be held at the OSU Extension Office August 20th at 6:00 p.m., where we will discuss Common Natural Plants and our Plant of the Month will be Pumpkins.
I will also be at Worch Library on August 27th at 6:00 p.m. to discuss Rain Barrels. If this is a topic you would like to learn more about, I hope to see you there!
If you have a pond or are considering having a pond in the near future, you may be interested in attending the Tri-County Pond Clinic. OSU Specialist Eugene Braig will be joining us to discuss important topics such as pond maintenance, aquatic weed control, fish stocking, and more. See the attached flyer for more details.
