ST. PARIS – On February 24th, the Greenville Green Wave varsity wrestling team traveled to St. Paris Graham High School to wrestle in the Southwest Division II sectionals tournament in hopes of qualifying for districts next weekend held in Wilmington, OH.
Out of 13 teams the Green Wave placed sixth overall as a team falling short to Graham with 288 points, Ben Logan with 219.5, Tippecanoe with 140, Springfield Shawnee with 134.5, Tecumseh with 106, and the Greenville with 90.5 points.
Other schools participating in the southwest division II sectionals were Eaton, Bethel, Carroll. Urbana, Bellefontaine, and Kenton ridge.
Greenville took a total of 11 wrestlers to fill 14 of the OHSAA weight classes with a total of three district qualifiers and two alternates. To qualify the Wave wrestlers needed to finish in the top four of their brackets with fifth place being an alternate.
Qualifying were 120 Lb. junior Ashton Noggle placing second, 144 Lb. freshman Bradley Bush placing fourth, 150 Lb. junior William (LB) Bush placing third, and alternates 106 LB. sophomore Jack Suter placing fifth, and 285 Lb. junior Andrew Winner placing fifth.
Other placers for the Green Wave included 113 Lb. freshman Henry Allread placing sixth and 138 Lb. freshman Cael Cromwell placing sixth.
Next week the three Greenville district qualifiers and two alternates will travel to Wilmington High School in hopes of making it to the OHSAA State tournament the weekend of March 8-10.
