GREENVILLE – The Greenville Mural Committee will hold a watch party on Monday, October 27 celebrating the installation of a new mural honoring the upcoming 250th anniversary of our nation. The mural, created by local citizens, will be placed on the south wall of Loudy’s Office Machines; building. The festivities begin at 3 p.m. in Annie Oakley Memorial Park in downtown Greenville; refreshments will be served.
Inspired by the prize-winning quilt square created by the Fort Greene Ville chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.) to represent the state of Ohio in the D.A.R.’s National 250th Quilt submissions from local citizens of designs for inclusion in the mural were requested by the committee. Those submitting their work used a variety of media including colored pencil, paint, watercolor, and markers, as well as digital art to create their unique contributions.
Submissions were received from Chloe Callahan, Karen Chronister, Jana Deeter, Pegi Deeter, Barb Deis, Kelsey Ervin, Kyle Kagey, Virginia Kagey, Linda Onkst , Jen Overholser, Brenda Rice, Cecelia Rice, Stephanie Schieltz-Lowder, Alexandria Seas, Jean Selanders, Jane Tester, and Ethan Tutwiler.
The submitted squares were scanned, digitized and coordinated into a pattern by Greenville Mural Committee board members Stephanie Schieltz-Lowder and Timothy Wells. Their design will be printed on vinyl for installation on the Loudy’s wall; the completed size will be approximately 10 feet by 12 feet. Wintrow Signs is once again donating their time to install this mural.
