GREENVILLE – Village Green Health Campus hosted its Live Nativity on Friday evening for the third year. They had an excellent turnout with many families joining residents for a great evening of fun.
There was a live nativity scene to visit with animals provided by Idle Hour Ranch. They had a variety of animals available for families to meet and visit.
There was also a soup bar, desserts, and hot chocolate for families and residents to enjoy. Live entertainment, including Christmas music, was provided.
“It is by far the most popular event that we do here on campus. We tied it into our family night, so many of our families are here,” said Holly Wedam, Director of Sales
This year they are also supporting a couple of different charities that hold special places in their hearts.
There was a silent auction for decorated wreaths and trees, and the funds received will go toward the Alzheimer’s Association. The Alzheimer’s Association is a voluntary health organization that provides care, support, and research to people affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
Additionally, there was also a bake sale held and those funds will go towards the Give Medical Ministry – Free “loaner” reconditioned durable medical equipment and supplemental medical supplies to those in need. There was also a 50/50 raffle held which also went to Give Medical Ministry.
“This is a great community event for us,” said Tom Troyer, Executive Director. “A lot of our staff just show up and help out with this event as well. They’re just here volunteering their time and I think that’s just absolutely amazing.”
The residents assisted with many of the bake sale items this year as well. Residents look forward to this event every year as it is a time of fellowship and quality time that is spent with their families.
“They have this event every year. I think that it’s great and all the residents get a present. The people in charge of activities are so creative. They put all this on and it’s wonderful for us,” said John Heater, Resident of Village Green.
Heater is a very involved resident in different activities around Village Green. He also shares his talent for Diamond Paintings and, in fact, entered an original design into The Great Darke County Fair this past year and received a blue ribbon. He often interacts with others, including staff, residents, and visitors.
Once again due to the success of this event, Village Green Health Campus will plan on hosting this event again in the future. They hope to give to a new charity as well.
