COVINGTON – Keith Warner has chosen not to run for another term on the Village Council, so the Village will have a vacant seat effective January 1, which will need to be filled per Section 731.43 of the Ohio Revised Code.
The position will be filled by appointment at the Council meeting on Monday, January 8. The term runs through December 31, 2027. If you are interested in putting yourself forward as a candidate, please complete a brief statement of interest, including information about your background and qualifications, and drop it off at the Government Center (1 S. High Street, Covington, OH) or send it via email to [email protected]. The deadline to submit is December 29 at 5 pm.
The Village Council is Covington’s legislative body. It is composed of six members and votes on ordinances, resolutions, and financial matters affecting the Village. For more information on the Council, please go here – https://www.villageofcovington.com/village-council.
The Council generally meets at 7 pm on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month. Special meetings may be called if there is exigent business that can’t wait until the next regular meeting. Meetings usually last 1-2 hours, sometimes a little less and occasionally more.
Council members must be eligible to vote in the state of Ohio and must have resided in the Village for at least one year to be eligible.
