GREENVILLE–The VFW Auxiliary 7262 sponsored the Kids Christmas Party this past Saturday afternoon and it was deemed a success by organizer Sue Schlechty.
“We had a wonderful turnout this year. Each child receives a gift, except if you sign and don’t show, you don’t get any,” said Schlechty who purchased the gifts and wrapped them this year.

While awaiting Santa’s arrival, the children were given a project to do. This year, they had to create a craft to design a wooden star that they were given so that they could hang them on the Veterans tree and Garst Museum and on the tree at the VFW.
“Their imaginations were unreal,” Schlechty said. “We had some great artists amongst us.”
She also expressed her appreciation to those who helped her with this year’s event.

“We had a great crew as always….Deb, Dave, Connie, Darla, Allen, Cheryl, Kim and the best, of all, was Santa.,” she replied.
This program has been taking place for quite a number of years.
“A few years ago, we were talking about the party and decided to give it a go, and we are so glad we did; it has been great,” she remarked.
