GREENVILLE – Tribute Funeral Homes hosted its 3rd Annual Memorial Day FREE Lunch for Veterans and spouses at the American Legion Post 140 in Greenville.
“We wouldn’t be here without our Veterans,” said Eric Fee. “We love treating them great because they give us the freedoms we have. Memorial Day is a special day because some gave all, so this is the least we can do.”
Eric and Kristen Fee, owners of Tribute Funeral Homes, sponsor and coordinate the annual event with the support of their staff and local businesses.
Free Winner’s Meats marinated pork chops, scalloped potatoes, green beans, and a large cookie are served to Veterans and their spouses before they make their way up to Broadway for the Memorial Day Parade following lunch.
“We have great sponsors that jump on board, like Lighting Electric, who came on board this year,” Fee noted. “We are growing every year. We’ve had well over 100 this year, last year we served 75, so it is growing.”
This Memorial Day, 150 Winner’s pork chops were on hand, and at the end of the meal, 148 pork chop dinners were served.
“We couldn’t do it without my granddaughter Lorelai,” Fee said with a smile.
“This is the least we can do for Veterans,” said Grace Dearing, Tribute, Marketing and Outreach Coordinator. “It is awesome that the Veterans have served our country, and this is the least we can do, offer some amazing Winner’s pork chops. Dudley and Sharon Lipps and their family, and Chuck and Vickie come in and cook them to perfection.”
Fee thanked Greenville American Legion Post 140 “for opening their doors and allowing us to set up in the parking lot, use the hall facility, and put the tent up for us.”
“One thing about Darke County,” Fee said, “this is a very Veteran-loving community, and you just mention Veteran, and you need help with something – I have never had anybody say no.”
