VERSAILLES – The Versailles Tigers defense had their best game statistically Friday night against Troy Christian to earn a first-round OHSAA football playoff game.

The Tigers held the Eagles to 25 yards of offense en route to a 40-0 victory.

“Defensively we played well tonight.” Coach Ryan Jones said “We executed well, we were able to get the shutout. Happy with the performance tonight.”

The Tiger offense rushed for 305 yards and logged 135 passing yards.

Versailles scored early and often building a 34-0 lead at the half. Joel Gehret scored three touchdowns, Ross Francis carried for a rushing touchdown and Zach Meyer had a receiving touchdown.

The JV squad played almost the entire second half. The Junior Varsity scored in the third quarter on a one yard run by Aaron Bowlin.

The Tigers will host Twin Valley South this Friday in the team’s last home game at Hole Field this year.
