Versailles sends 3 wrestlers to State Meet

TROY – The Versailles boys wrestling team finished 9th at the DIII District Wrestling meet and had three individuals qualify for the state wrestling meet.

In the 106-pound weight class, Trent Huber wrestled for 3rd place but fell to Alter’s Hayden Weiss to finish 4th.  The top 4 wrestlers qualify to wrestle in the state meet.

Versailles freshman Trent Huber battled through a swollen and bloody face to qualify for state with a 9-7 victory over Nico Moreno of Paulding.

In the 113-pound weight class brother Trey Huber also wrestled for 3rd place and won his match with a 3-0 decision over Carson Taylor of Covington.  He will wrestle in the state meet.

Michael Osborne of Versailles has his hand raised after 3-1 victory over Riley Stevenson of Preble Shawnee in the semifinals at 175 pounds.

In the 175-pound division, Michael Osborne came up short of winning a district Championship dropping a 3-1 decision to Triad’s Awsom Mitchell.  Osborne was the highest placer for the Tigers with a 2nd place finish and will wrestle in the state meet.
