VERSAILLES – The Versailles Exempted Village School District is pleased to announce the selection of Travis Swank as the next Principal of Versailles High School. Mr. Swank was formally approved by the Board of Education at its April 21, 2026, regular Board meeting.
Mr. Swank brings nearly two decades of experience in education, including extensive service within Versailles Schools, where he currently serves as a High School Intervention Specialist. Throughout his career, he has worked closely with students, staff, and families, building strong relationships and contributing to the continued success of the district.
Superintendent Dave Harmon emphasized both the strength of the candidate pool and the depth of the selection process.
“This was a highly competitive process that included multiple rounds of interviews and the involvement of a diverse group of stakeholders, including administrators, teachers, Board representation, and students,” Harmon said. “The level of thought, care, and perspective that went into this decision was significant, and I am confident in Travis as the right leader to continue moving Versailles High School forward.”
The finalist process was intentionally designed to provide a comprehensive view of each candidate’s leadership approach. In addition to traditional interview questions, candidates engaged in deeper discussions around instructional leadership, decision-making, and school culture, as well as a structured interaction with a group of high school students to better understand how they connect with and communicate with those they will serve.
Mr. Swank has long been a part of the Versailles school community and understands the strong foundation already in place. Throughout his time in Versailles, Mr. Swank has demonstrated a commitment to supporting both student growth and staff collaboration, with a focus on building a strong and positive learning environment.
“Being a teacher of the Versailles School District for the past 18 years, I know how special this place is. Versailles is a district with a culture of excellence in and out of the classroom, strong support from the community, and, most importantly, a deep commitment to caring for each student. I am humbled and honored for the opportunity to serve in this new role and to continue working alongside our staff and community to support student growth. I am committed to ensuring that every student is challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.”
In his current role, Mr. Swank has supported students across a wide range of needs while also serving in leadership capacities within the building. His experience includes collaboration with colleagues to support instruction, involvement in Professional Learning Communities, and a long-standing commitment to student success both inside and outside the classroom.
Harmon noted that the district’s goal moving forward is to build upon its strong tradition while continuing to grow.
“Versailles has a long history of high performance, and we are proud of that,” Harmon said. “At the same time, we are always looking for ways to continue improving and providing the best possible experience for our students. Travis understands both the importance of that foundation and the responsibility to keep moving the district forward.”
Mr. Swank will officially begin his new role on August 1, 2026. In the interim, he will be actively engaged in administrative decision-making and will work closely alongside Mrs. Stonebraker throughout the remainder of the school year and into the summer to support a smooth and seamless transition.
