VERSAILLES – The Tigers put up a fight against Coldwater Friday night but struggled to find the end zone in a 16-6 loss.
“We got to make plays”. Coach Scott Broeman said, “It’s a really good football team we played. We’re pretty good too, at times. We got to put it all together.”
Versailles moved the ball, but penalties hurt the Tigers.

The Cavaliers scored first after stopping the Tigers on their opening drive. A partially blocked punt had the Cavaliers starting on their own 41-yard line. Coldwater scored on a 16-yard run to take a 6-0 lead. The extra point was no good.
The MAC teams traded punts until late in the second quarter, when the Tigers struck on a 46-yard pass to Kade Schwartz. But while the crowd celebrated, the officials called it back for an illegal forward pass. Facing a third-and-28, quarterback Blake Monnin connected with Damian Barga, who took it to the Cavalier 22-yard line. With 2:14 left in the half, Monnin hit Schwartz on a ten-yard pass to tie the game. The Tigers’ extra point hit the upright. The Cavaliers wasted no time, driving 82 yards and scoring with zeros on the clock to take a 13-6 lead at the half.

The Cavaliers kicked a 36-yard field goal with 2:51 left in the third quarter. The Cavaliers would have a 16-6 lead. Versailles mishandled the kick and started at their 15-yard line. Monnin hit Schwartz on a bomb to the Cavaliers’ 31-yard line. The Tigers attempted a field goal, but it missed. The Cavaliers worked the clock and left Versailles with their 21st straight win against the Tigers.
