GREENVILLE – Greenville senior Vera Cox was recognized Saturday night at halftime of the varsity boys basketball game against Wapakoneta for her outstanding performance throughout the golf season after being named the Miami Valley League Golfer of the Year.
“It’s a big honor for Vera,” said longtime Greenville Lady Wave golf coach Tracy Haines. “She worked hard for it.”

Cox becomes just the second Lady Wave golfer to earn MVL Golfer of the Year during Coach Haines’ tenure at Greenville High School. Former Lady Wave standout Kenna Jenkinson previously captured the honor four consecutive years from 2019 through 2022.
Coach Haines explained that the award is determined by points accumulated during conference matches, along with points earned at the MVL Conference Tournament, with Cox finishing the season atop the league standings.

Vera is the daughter of Chrissy and Ryan Cox.
“I am very proud, and proud of my school,” Cox said. “I would like to thank my coach, my parents, and my teammates.”
Cox plans to attend the University of Dayton to study Entrepreneurship.
