Vehicle strikes home after second driver runs stop sign

DARKE COUNTY – On Sunday at approximately 10:15 am, Darke County Deputies, along with Tri-Village Rescue, and New Madison Fire responded to the intersection of US 127 and Hogpath Rd. in reference to a two-vehicle injury accident.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 2015 Ford Focus driven by Myron Atkins (67) of Muncie, Ind. was traveling eastbound on Hogpath. Atkins failed to yield the right of way while crossing the intersection, traveling into the path of a 2022 Ford Explorer northbound on US 127 driven by Linda Kendig (71) of Arcanum, Ohio. Kendig struck Atkins’ vehicle on the passenger side, with Atkins’ vehicle coming to rest in the road. Kendig’s vehicle exited the road to the right, striking a residence.

Atkins and his passenger, Thersea Atkins, as well as Kendig, were transported to Wayne HealthCare with non-life-threatening injuries.

This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
