I was just sitting around home here and saw that some children in the Ansonia area are going to once again be blessed at Christmas time. This year, two events are slated in December to make those youngsters’ Christmases even more special.
Betty Burnfield will be hosting once again Breakfast With Santa at the Ansonia American Legion on Dec. 6 from 9 to 11 a.m. In her 27 years of organizing the event, she said breakfast will consist of pancakes, eggs, sausage and juice or coffee, with lots of help from community residents.
Santa is expected to arrive at 9:30 a.m. Upon his arrival, children will get to visit with jolly fellow and discuss what they wish for at Christmas time. They usually receive some gifts that day as well.
Yes, the American Legion is still going through a makeover and Betty asks that everyone be respectful as the Legionnaires have been busy working on renovations there.
Then, on the following Saturday, Dec. 13, the Ansonia Police Department will be hosting an event, Cops for Christmas, aimed at giving back to the community and strengthening relationships with local children.
Police Chief John Puckett said he looks forward to a great turnout, and toys will be available while supplies last. The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the village council’s chambers at 202 N. Main St.
I think it’s wonderful they can do this for the children in need in our community.
Attending these events in the past have brought back special memories.
Wishing the best for those who take part in both of these events.
