RANDOLPH COUNTY, Ind. – A young Union City man dies as a result of a single-vehicle crash that occurred in Randolph County Thursday evening.
The crash was reported around 6:15 p.m. to the area of SR 227 near the intersection with US 36.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a black 2000 Ford Ranger pickup truck was traveling northbound on SR 227.
The driver reportedly failed to stop at a sign before losing control of the vehicle. The truck crossed over onto US 36, veered off the west side of the roadway and rolled over several times before striking a utility pole.
The driver was transported to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries. The passenger, identified as Devon Lumpkin (19) of Union City, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene.
The deceased individual has been identified as 19-year-old Devon Lumpkin of Union City, Ohio.
The crash remains under investigation by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.
