TROY – The Troy Police Department is proud to introduce new tools designed to assist individuals in our community with disabilities.
“We are now offering a placard for individuals who are hearing impaired to keep on hand during traffic stops. This placard will help both the officer and the citizen communicate more effectively during routine interactions,” as stated in a post on the department’s Facebook page.
“Additionally, we are providing an information envelope for individuals on the autism spectrum. This envelope will contain important paperwork to assist during traffic stops, ensuring a smoother experience for both the individual and the officer,” the post went on to say.
These resources can be picked up at the Troy Police Department, located in the breezeway between the front doors.
