PITSBURG – The Tri-Village Lady Patriots earned their eighth conference win of the season with a 68-25 victory over the home-standing Franklin Monroe Lady Patriots in Thursday night action.
“We always have to think team first,” said Tri-Village coach Brad Gray. “When we do that, we’re pretty dynamic offensively, but when we don’t, we’re pretty easy to guard.”

“They have a nice team,” said Franklin Monroe coach Tim Barga. “We pretty well knew what was going to happen. It’s tough against a team like this.”
Tri-Village defense dominated the opening quarter, with the Lady Patriots grabbing an 18-2 lead after one period of play.
“When teams put pressure on us, we have a hard time doing anything,” Barga stated. “We had some girls that played well.”

The pesky Lady Jets held Tri-Village to 12 second-quarter points while adding seven points to the board, giving the Lady Patriots a 30-9 lead at the break.
“We have to be better at sharing the basketball,” said Gray. “Sometimes when we get in games like this, we start thinking about individual things instead of team things, and when you’re thinking individually, that’s when things become detrimental, and we don’t play as well.”

Period No. 3 went to Tri-Village by a 21-10 score, giving the visitors a commanding 51-17 advantage with one quarter to play.
The Lady Patriots put a running clock in play at 7:25 in the fourth quarter en route to a 43-point WOAC win.

Tri-Village had nine turnovers, seven coming in the first half, and Franklin Monroe committed 26 turnovers on the night.
