NEW MADISON – Tri-Village hosted its 20th Annual All-American Patriot Cheer & Dance Championship on Sunday, November 16, under the direction of the longtime mother–daughter team of Darlene Ary and Danielle Bourne, both former head cheer coaches at Tri-Village Schools.
“It was a great turnout,” Bourne said. “I was so happy. I love watching all the athletes perform. It’s so special.”
This year’s event featured 33 teams across nine divisions, with Troy capturing the Grand Championship trophy and Greenville earning the Spirit Award.
Serving as Masters of Ceremonies for the day were Danielle Bourne and Sheila Scholl, keeping the competition running smoothly and on schedule.
Danielle also recognized her mother for two decades of dedication to the annual event.
“She has 20 years of service for putting on this amazing competition,” Danielle said. “The first year we had eight performances, and this year we had 47. I’ve been helping for 15 years since I graduated.”
Following the competition, senior cheerleaders from all participating schools were recognized.
Tri-Village head cheerleading coach Kara Wilson praised the event and the organizers.
“I was very happy with the event today,” Wilson said. “It ran very smoothly thanks to Darlene and Danielle and their attention to detail. It was a tight competition, and Troy is always so much fun to watch. We love watching them compete, and their Grand Championship was very well deserved.”
Wilson also thanked “all the parents and girls who chipped in to make the day possible.”
