What a weekend! The snow was not as much as I was expecting since earlier predictions of higher amounts had me thinking that way. Believe me, I am not going to trust everything I hear.
That white stuff –snow– is okay and beautiful at times, but an aging person like me doesn’t want to go out in it, especially since I’ve been using a cane as of late to get around so I don’t fall down and injure and/or embarrass myself.
Anyhow, I made the decision when I heard the after-Thanksgiving prediction that Jamie and I would spend at least Saturday and Sunday at home and not go out on the roadways. And that’s what we did. We needed this time to ourselves. It was like Thanksgiving all over again. I prepared food, we ate, watched TV, did other household chores and even did some of my downsizing, trying to let go of things to make life simpler.
I’m thinking of perhaps having a garage sale one of these days, or donating to needy organizations or throwing stuff in the trash… Decisions! Decisions!
I think Jamie enjoyed our time together and knows we made the right decision to stay home. It makes our hearts grow fonder of each other more so than they already do (I hope he feels the same way). I’m still thankful that God put Jamie in my life.
In the meantime, we have to go on with life. This week, I have a couple of doctor’s appointments if the weather does not hamper that, with even another recent prediction that more snow is supposed to be coming this week. Not sure if I believe that either. We’ll see.
I know I’ve said this more than once in all of the columns I’ve written, but I do fear driving in the wintertime and even more now. I did drive through a number of storms when working full-time, but I was younger then, and that was enough for me.
I’m hoping everyone had a happy Thanksgiving. Our sympathy goes out to those who lost loved ones in recent weeks.
