GREENVILLE – The Task Force is inviting Darke County residents to review key findings and make their voices heard in the Task Force’s work to address Darke County’s housing and provider shortage crisis. Darke County residents, including individuals, families, agencies, organizations, groups, and elected officials, are all invited to participate. The Task Force is particularly interested in hearing from people with lived experience of homelessness, poverty, mental health conditions, addictions or substance use, people in recovery, and people who have been engaged in the criminal justice system, as well as their friends, families and supporters.
The community feedback form is available online at www.darkecountycares.org and feedback is requested by midnight on Monday, October 12th. The Task Force will reconvene on Saturday, October 17th from 1:00-4:00pm at Edison State Community College in Greenville to discuss actionable solutions based on the Task Force’s work and the community’s input.
In order to promote long-term success of the Task Force’s work, the Task Force is using a strategic planning process. This includes: Identifying known barriers first so that no one is left behind during solutions planning; Developing, promoting, implementing and recommending solutions that are innovative, actionable, locally-focused and foster collaboration among existing agencies where possible; Identification and centralization of critical gap resources once identified, including monitoring and reporting on availability and access; Community education that fosters compassion, funding and support for needed services.
The Task Force launched on Saturday, September 19th to identify barriers and key resources and stakeholders, and is facilitated by local consultants with a small grant from the Darke County Opioid Settlement Advisory Board. Community members are invited to join the Task Force as participants or sign up to receive direct updates.
