Eaton’s varsity baseball team picked up their second Southwestern Buckeye League win of the season, shutting out Brookville 4-0 on Wednesday. The Eagles are now 2-1 in league play, 5-4 overall.
Eaton defeated Madison, 13-1, to open their SWBL schedule. Their lone loss was to Franklin, 5-4, in 11 innings.
Eaton senior pitcher Brady Rice threw seven innings of shutout baseball against Brookville. Rice allowed just six hits, struck out 11 with no walks. Rice was the 2002 SWBL Pitcher of the Year, leading the SWBL with 104 strikeouts.
Brock Ebright and Ty Crammer were both 2-for-3 in the win.
Eaton hosted Greenville in a non-league matchup on Friday. The Eagles posted the win, 13-2.
Carlisle is off to a good start for the 2023 season. The Indians opened SWBL play 3-0 with wins over Franklin, Bellbrook and Valley View. They currently hold the top spot in the standings for the SWBL West Division.
In the East Division, Bellbrook (3-1) and Franklin (2-1) are at the top of the standings.
