DARKE COUNTY – Although June is in its final days, the Darke County Seniors at Birchwood Senior Center are getting ready to host their first Summer Picnic Party on Thursday, which requires an RSVP for a boxed lunch. Then, on Friday, June 27th, there will be a free Patriotic Dance from 6:00 – 9:00 pm open to seniors aged 55+. DJ Moose will provide a diversity of music to accommodate all dance styles. And the Swingin’ 8’s Square Dance Club will be on hand to provide entertainment. Light refreshments will be served.
The July calendar of events is available on Facebook and at nearly every public location throughout Darke County. If you have not seen their posters at a location you frequent, please feel free to contact Diana at (937) 681-5275 and offer your assistance in distributing flyers.
New to the Center is BINGOCIZE, a program that integrates the classic game of Bingo with exercise and health education. Since the class size is limited to nineteen participants, those interested must pre-register by July 7th. Classes begin Monday, July 14th and are offered every Monday and Wednesday from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM through September 15th. There will be no class on Labor Day, September 1st. Register by text or call Wally at (508) 789-3884 or Mary at (937) 423-2565 by July 7th. They are also available to answer any questions.
Chair yoga, which is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, will not be held on July 1st or 3rd but will return on July 8th at a new time: 10:30 – 11:30 am. Please mark your calendar and join in the fun of fitness.
