Step back in time at the 2025 Gathering at Garst

GREENVILLE – Darke County Parks invites the community to step back in time and celebrate local history at the Gathering at Garst on Saturday, July 26th (10am–8pm) and Sunday, July 27th (11am–5pm).

This year’s event is sponsored by Wayne Healthcare, Maid-Rite Sandwich Shoppe, and UAW Local 2413.

A beloved tradition for over a decade, this unique event returns once again to honor our region’s rich heritage with history, art, shopping, music, and more.

Darke County Parks continues its stewardship of the Living History Encampment, and this year it promises to be bigger and better than ever. Wander through immersive camps spanning from 1750 to 1865, where re-enactors in period dress bring history to life through demonstrations, storytelling, and skirmishes. Ask questions, learn something new, and witness cannon demonstrations happening throughout both days. Plus, children can enjoy classic games and hands-on experiences just for them.

Just across the street, explore a vibrant market filled with artisan vendors offering everything from handmade jewelry and garden décor to houseplants, honey, and more. Be sure to check out the Featured Artist Tent, returning this year with a fresh lineup of local talent: Rene Bechard, John Gibson, Bailey Justine Mosey-Hoffman, Marcie Stammen, and more.

While you’re browsing, don’t miss a visit to the ever-popular Last Chance Mercantile—a two-day tag sale on the grounds of the Garst Museum. It’s a treasure hunter’s paradise, featuring everything from vintage furniture, frames, and artwork to textiles, antique dishes, and Darke County memorabilia.

Need a break? Grab a cold beer from the tavern, enjoy delicious eats from on-site food trucks, and then kick back to enjoy live music performances throughout the weekend. This year’s lineup includes Green DeVilles and Toys in the Attic, an Aerosmith tribute band, on Saturday and Jared Walker and Vintage 3 on Sunday.

Admission is free, and parking is available for $5 per vehicle. For more information, visit www.darkecountyparks.org/gathering.

Come celebrate community, creativity, and history at this one-of-a-kind summer event!
