DARKE COUNTY – The Darke County Commissioners’ regular meeting started at 1:30 p. m. with Commissioners Aultman, Combs, and Flatter present. The Commissioners then approved the minutes from July 21st.
The examination and allowance of bills were presented and approved. The vouchers for July 21st, 22nd, and 23rd were: General Fund $82,528.41; outside General Funds $466,481.90, for a total of $549,010.31.
A Fund Advance Back for Darke County Grants was approved. $66,080.00.
The Animal Shelter has hired Taylor Fletcher as a part-time Kennel Worker effective on July 27th.
A letter of Recommendation for Gabe McGlinch to achieve his Eagle Scout rank was introduced and passed by all three Commissioners. Good luck, Gabe!
A Request for Qualifications for Information Technology firms to submit their qualifications that require professional review, assessment, and planning. Applications must be submitted in triplicate by 4:00 P.M., August 19, 2026.
A request to appoint Mike Stegall (little old me!) was submitted to the Solid Waste Policy Board, due to the retirement of James Schaar. After much deliberation, discussion, cursing, and praying by the Commissioners, they reluctantly approved!
A Building Maintenance agreement with Jobs and Family Services was submitted. The Commissioners will be responsible for all structural and maintenance-type repairs. JFS will use 26,607 feet of space, provide reimbursement for their share of common area maintenance (approximately 21.3%), and reimburse for all utility costs.
Expense requests for DC Juvenile Court and for Probate were presented. Judge Aslinger will attend the 2026 Ohio Judicial Conference Annual Meeting in Columbus, Sept. 16-18, 2026. Estimated cost is $1,143.00. Magistrate Dustin Davis will attend the 2026 OAM Fall Conference in Columbus on Sept. 8-11, 2026, for a total of $939.00. Both were approved.
