“Stebbins is solid, they are solid all around,” said Greenville coach, Rachael Kerns. “They’re not the best in the league at any one spot but by no means are they bad in one spot either.”

“There’s a reason they beat West Carrolton and there’s a reason they hang tough with about everybody they play,” Kerns added.

The visiting Lady Indians got out to a 14-8 first quarter lead and pushed its lead to 31-17 with the teams heading to the halftime break with Stebbins winning the second quarter 17-9.

Stebbins took advantage of 5’8” junior, Tori Kielbaso’s 3-point shooting, canning her third and fourth triples of the night taking period No. 3 by a 20-14 count and lead 51-31 with three quarters in the book. Megan Lind paced the Lady Wave in the third with eight points including 2-2 at the free throw line.

Greenville battled back doubling up on the Stebbins starters in the fourth 12-6 with Brooke Schmidt accounting for six Lady Wave points including four free throws.

“I was proud of the effort and great to get some strong post-play today,” Coach Kerns said of Lind and Schmidt’s inside play. “That comes back to our guards giving the ball to where they can do something with it. There were a lot of good things that happened tonight.”

The Lady Wave struggled at the charity stripe going 11-23 for 0.48 percent shooting and was unable to connect on any 3-pointers.

“Sometimes it’s really hard to swallow a loss and I don’t have that feeling tonight,” Kerns stated. “We definitely didn’t do everything we needed to do but I think top to bottom Stebbins is better than what we are. We left a lot of free throws and missed shots but we’re close. We’re close to being right here with some really good teams. We just need to figure out how to put it all together.”

Lind led Greenville and all scorers with a game-high 17 points. Schmidt added 15 points for the Lady Wave. Schmidt led the Lady Wave with nine rebounds and Lind pulled down six boards on the night.

Greenville drops to 2-5 on the season and 0-5 in MVL action.
