GREENVILLE – On Thursday, May 29, Spittin’ Image will perform from 2 – 4 pm in Shelter House #4 at the Greenville City Park. This is a free event organized by the Darke County Seniors, designed for those aged 55+, and sponsored by the gracious donors of the DC Senior organization.
In addition to the afternoon of entertainment, free ice cream will be served.
Events are usually held at the Birchwood Senior Center at 5844 Jaysville St. Johns Road. However, the group felt it necessary to increase awareness by going beyond the walls of their Birchwood facility.
DC Seniors provides health and wellness classes, fitness activities, learning opportunities, and social events to greatly improve the mental, physical, and social well-being of area senior citizens.
The organization can offer a full and varied calendar of events, partially through its dedicated and dependable volunteers, but it is only possible with the contributions received from civic-minded businesses and individuals. The Darke County Seniors operate under the Darke County Senior Outreach, a 501(c)(3) and has received private and individual donations as well as contributions from R.J. Warner Insurance, Flaig Lumber of New Madison, Greenville National Bank, Troutwine Auto Sales, Clear Choice Hearing Center, Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Whirlpool, Park National, Wayne Health Care, Brethren Retirement Community, Rest Haven Nursing Home, Spirit Transport, Everheart Hospice, Versailles Rehab Center, Trustwell at Oakley Place, Dairy Queen, and Abbottsville Monuments, for which the membership is grateful.
Funding is a constant necessity, which means donations are continually needed and forever appreciated. Those wishing to volunteer their time and talent with the group are encouraged to attend the next membership meeting scheduled for Wednesday, June 4th at 3:00 pm. The meeting is open to all who are interested.
A couple of events in June require an *RSVP to Wally at (508) 789-3884 or Mary at (937) 423-2565.
The first is a crafting class held on Thursday, June 19th from 1 – 3:00 pm led by Denise Palivec. Those interested will make two diamond dot coasters. These are elegant and unique bejeweled coasters. The fee is $10, and the class size is limited to twenty people. To secure a spot *RSVP by June 12th.
The second is a Summer Picnic event held on Thursday, June 26th, beginning at noon. There will be a free boxed lunch, gift basket raffles, indoor and outdoor games, and so much more for those who *RSVP by June 19th. Those attending are welcome to bring a lawn chair if desired.
