Space limited to sign up for an educational, fun trip on the Greenville Creek

GREENVILLE – Come out and enjoy a day on scenic Greenville Creek on Friday, June 6, 2025.

The Darke and Miami Soil and Water Conservation Districts, City of Greenville and the Park Districts of Darke and Miami Counties are teaming up to provide an educational and fun trip on the Greenville Creek. Call the Darke SWCD office at 937-548-1715, extension 3, to reserve your canoe or kayak now. Space is limited for this trip.

We are asking participants to arrive at Bear’s Mill located at 6450 Arcanum Bears Mill Road, Greenville, Ohio 45331 by 8:15 am. There will be a shuttle for participants to the launch point at the Bish Discovery Center on Ohio Street. Our goal is to have all attendees on the water by 9:00 am. The cost to participate is just $5.00 per person, which helps cover the lunch expense.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife will be conducting a fish shocking demonstration at the takeout at Bear’s Mill. This demonstration will show how fish management is conducted and the role of conservation efforts in maintaining healthy ecosystems. It is also a great way for participants to see all the different fish species in Greenville Creek.

Reserve your spot today by calling the Darke SWCD office at 937-548-1715, extension 3. Space is limited and registrations will be taken on a first come, first served basis. Don’t miss out on this unofficial kickoff to summer.

Registrations will be accepted until the trip is full. This canoe float is always a popular event, so don’t wait to register. If weather forces the cancellation of the float, there will not be a makeup date. For more information regarding the canoe float, please contact Jared Coppess at jared.coppess@darkeswcd.com
