Son Jamie turning 50 on Oct. 19

I can’t believe it’s October already. Where did the summer go?

Don’t get me wrong because October is a good month because special things have happened to me but I know the weather is going to be changing and probably not for the best. What if I can’t handle it with my footing in recent weeks. At least, there shouldn’t be snow and ice….just yet.

Oct. 3, 50 years ago, was my due date for my first and only child. However, 16 days passed by before he decided to make an appearance and it required a C-section for me. Yes, Jamie was born the morning of Oct. 19, 1975, at Wayne Hospital in Greenville.

All of this took place with Mom by my side. Thank God for her.

Another date in October for our family was Oct. 5. Jamie, who wasn’t even born yet, reminded me the other day that my family…my parents and four siblings….moved to our residence on Ansonia-Elroy Road in 1958 on that date.. Our parents lived there until they went into the nursing home several years ago. A lot of memories, great memories, were made there.

Man, how fast time flies. My son has a great sense of humor and is trying to convince me he remembers being born. He has his own reasons, which I won’t divulge, as to why he arrived later than he was expected. But, I want to believe that he felt that way about the whole situation.

I wouldn’t trade him for the world.

Yes, Jamie is turning 50 on the 19th of this month. And, if anyone wants to wish him a happy birthday, they can do so on my Facebook page or send him a card. He always loves his birthday and hearing from his family and friends on that occasion. If you send a card, it can be addressed to P.O Box 471, Ansonia. Ohio, 45303. Either way, I can show him what messages he received.

In the meantime, I am going to be spending time wondering where the years have gone and hoping there will be many more. He’s my pride and joy. Usually, not a night goes by and he’s heading off to bed that he tells me, “Thank you for being my mother.”

I thank him for being my son.
