DARKE COUNTY – The Darke County Senior Center was well represented at the Great Darke County Fair this year, thanks to Eric Fee of Tribute Funeral Home, who allowed space for the DC Seniors display within the huge white tent. While senior citizens enjoyed a free meal on Monday, they were able to learn about all the educational presentations, health and fitness classes, entertainment, and social events offered at the Birchwood Senior Center.
Events offered this week include Refit®, Alzheimer’s Support Group, the “Getting to Know You” social hour, and craft day, as well as the continuation of the Healthy Living Workshop, chair yoga, and Basic Computer Classes.
Seniors wishing to stay fit have a variety of options from chair yoga and line dancing to Refit® at the Birchwood Senior Center. Starting Monday, September 15th, Carolyn Kossler will offer Refit from 10:30 – 11:15 am on Mondays and Fridays.
Carolyn has been teaching this class at the center a few times each month and after some convincing, will now be offering it twice weekly. REFIT® is a fitness program that combines dance, cardio, and toning. The moves are powerful, and the music is positive. This is an inspiring and cardio-focused class that is both effective and fun. The class is perfect for beginners, but fitness enthusiasts can still find it challenging. Donations appreciated
On Wednesday, September 17th, the DC Senior Line Dancers will be performing on Fifth Street, Greenville from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. The public is welcome to participate. This will be one of many events taking place during Senior Citizens’ Day Out, presented by Main Street Greenville
Thursday, September 18th, the craft project will be a fall pumpkin decoupage class at 1 pm. The class will be using craft pumpkins. The pumpkins, fall-themed napkins, Mod Podge and brushes are included for $5 per pumpkin fee. The project will be led by Carol Hosbrook-Cole with refreshments on hand. Those interested must RSVP by 9/11.
