GREENVILLE – The shorthanded Green Wave dropped a Tuesday night 73-33 MVL basketball game to the Tippecanoe Red Devils with four players out for the night.
“My guys played hard but definitely not a team that I go into with half my guys,” said Greenville coach, Matt Hamilton following the game.
Tipp grabbed an early 21-2 lead after one period of play with the aid of three 3-pointers and took the second quarter 16-9 sending the teams to the break with the Red Devils holding a commanding 37-11 lead.
Greenville used the third period for its best offensive performance to the night to score 16-points matched by Tipp’s largest quarter output posting 24-points and lead 61-27 with one quarter to play.
The visitors took the final period 12-6 to earn the MVL win.
“They were all over the floor, they were prepared, they came in like we expected them to,” Coach Hamilton said of Tippecanoe. “We knew being shorthanded was going to be a challenge and try to control what we could because they’re a good team.”
