DARKE COUNTY – The Darke County Commissioners held the August 6, 2026 regular meeting, which started at 1:34 p.m. with Commissioners Aultman, Combs, and Flatter present. The Commissioners then approved the minutes from August 4th.
The examination and allowance of bills were presented and approved. The vouchers for August 6th were: General fund $92,378.43; outside General funds $567,487.83; for a total of $659,866.26.
Four Departments had Transfers of Appropriations. The DC Commissioners transferred $91,000.00 for airport expenses; the Sheriff had insufficient Appropriations for cruiser push bumper replacements and transferred $10,250.00. Darke County Juvenile/Probate transferred $1,971.78 for new employee Health and Life insurance, and the Sewer Dept. transferred $400.00 for electric at Stillwater Sewer.
The Darke County Sheriff got quotes for two fully equipped Chevrolet Tahoes. The quote totaled $151,260.14.
A Fund Advance Back for the Grants Dept. and Engineer was next. The 2023 Lead Safe Ohio Grant paid back $181,434.00 to the Grants Dept., and the Engineer received $32,000.00 from the 2026 sign upgrade grant.
A Construction Contract for H&H Environmental from the Grants Dept. was awarded. The award was made on July 30th and must be completed by October 15th. The award totaled $52,685.00 for building demolition and Site revitalization. A notice to proceed was issued with the start date of August 6th.
An expense request for the Prosecutor’s office was approved. Shannon Godown will attend the Essentials of Victim Advocacy Summit from August 17th-21st in Akron for a total of $1,816.27.
Jennifer Sturgill was appointed as an Eligibility Referral Specialist at JFS starting August 24th.
An Advertisement for Bids was released today for the Fort Jefferson Sanitary Sewer system. Bids will be received until 1:00 p.m., September 10th, 2026. Bids will then be opened at 1:30 p.m.
There was a contract change for the Village of Palestine’s Main Street Sidewalk Replacement III. 32 feet of Concrete sidewalk was added for an additional $464.00, bringing the total to $82,298.64.
O.S.U. Extension updates were presented by Caden Buschur.
Mary Rodeheffer gave an update on the Darke County Seniors, which now total 550 members and are growing. Classes and programs are free and take place at the Birchwood Center on Jaysville-St. Johns Road in Greenville.
