Russ Royer, 90 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Rest Haven Nursing Home, Greenville, Ohio. Russ was born April 30, 1934 in Belle Center, Ohio, the son of the late Theodore and Helen Royer. Russ served his nation honorably in the United States Army; he was a businessman and owned Ballinger Lumber.

Russ was a member of the First Presbyterian Church; the Greenville Masonic Lodge #143; Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, and the Antioch Shrine. Russ was a little league coach and umpire; he loved the kids at church and would always greet them, and mostly he loved to play golf.

Russ is preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Ryan Robinson; his siblings, Ted Jr., John, Betty, and Wilma.

Russ is survived by his wife Phyllis Royer of Greenville whom he married July 19, 1953; his children and spouses, Debbie and Kelvin Schmidlin, Steven and Ranee Royer, and Angie and Jeff Gibbons; his grandchildren, Stephanie and Hayes Hubbs, Daniel and April Royer, Rick Gibbons, Elizabeth and Phillip McComb, and Ben Sease; his great-grandchildren, Brittany Walters (Jordan), Kayla Walters (Justin), Ryan Hubbs, Haddie Royer, Shay Royer, Mackinzi Gibbons, Elli Gibbons, Evan McComb, Seth McComb, and Reagen McComb; his great-great-grandchildren, Marley Kessler, and Avery Kessler; his God children, Tessa Schatz, Daeson Schatz, Madison Hoff, Rogue Hoff; his extended family, John and Jennifer Schatz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 3:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church 114 East Fourth Street, Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Andrew Gilman officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Saturday at the church. Memorial Contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
