GREENVILLE – The Legendary Rolling 50’s Classics, Inc. now in its 41st year held its annual Rolling 50’s Classics Father’s Day Spectacular at the Darke County Fair Grounds with more than 200 entries.
“We are very pleased with the turnout,” said Rolling 50’s Ken Erwin. “It has been a beautiful day and everybody seems to be happy and enjoying themselves.”
The organization that began forming in 1982 and started in 1983 at the old Dog N Suds on Wagner in Greenville and continues to give to charities including The Shriner’s Children’s Hospital and the Cancer Association of Darke County.
“There are a lot of kids out here with their dads and grandfathers out here today,” said Rolling 50’2 Ken Erwin. “This has been a real good turnout. I believe it’s bigger than what we’ve had in the past. This is more like when we first started it – the place is packed full of cars.”
This Father’s Day Spectacular is the second of three yearly cruise-ins with the main event scheduled for September 9, 2023 downtown Greenville ON BROADWAY from 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. billed as one of Ohio’s largest cruise-ins.
The September Cruise-In is in memory of Rolling 50’s Classics long time president, Dave Niley.
“We would like to see everyone come out to downtown Greenville in September,” said Erwin. “It’s a good time for everybody and just pray for a good night and no rain.”
Erwin took time to thank the organizations 23 members including the two remaining original members, Ron Stephens and Gene Hixenbaugh.
“I would like to thank all the members that help with our Cruse-Ins,” Erwin stated. “It’s a shame Dave’s not with us anymore.”
