Quilting Course at the DC Senior Center

GREENVILLE – Whether you are new to quilting or a seasoned quilter, the DC Senior Center is offering a course for those interested in piecing quilts. This course comprises eight sessions, during which participants will have the opportunity to create a different quilt block each Monday. Upon completion of the program, attendees will have assembled eight unique blocks, which can be sewn together into a table topper, wall hanging, or quilt.

Courses will begin on Monday, June 1st and will run for eight consecutive Mondays from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. Instruction will be provided by Carey Lee, owner of Creative Bee Quilting and Theresa Kress at the Birchwood Training & Senior Center, 5844 Jaysville St. Johns Rd, Greenville.

  • The fee for each class is $15, excluding fabric. Those interested should expect material costs to range from $100 – $150 depending on individual fabric selections. All participants must know how to operate a sewing machine and are required to bring the following items to each session:
A functional sewing machine (with which you are familiar)
  • Cutting mat
  • Rotary cutter
  • Cutting rulers
  • Neutral thread
  • Pins
  • Frixion pen
  • Small scissors (snips)

Classes will focus on cutting and sewing each block. You will add sashes and borders on your own time with our continued guidance. We will also provide information on sandwiching, batting, and backing before referring you to a recommended longarm quilter.

DC Senior organizers are elated to provide quilting opportunities at an affordable rate for members who are interested. For further details, please contact Theresa at 937-417-0709 or Carey at Creative Bee Quilting at 937-808-4055.
