Preble County deadly crash under investigation

PREBLE COUNTY – The Preble County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Monday, September 8th at approximately 5:50 P.M., in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 at Milepost 1.

The preliminary investigation determined that Timothy Rogers, age 61 of Cut Off, LA was operating a 2026 Freightliner semi and trailer and was stopped in traffic due to a crash in Indiana.

Rodney Nordbrook, age 72 of Waterloo, IA, was also traveling west on Interstate 70, operating a 2012 Honda Goldwing motorcycle. Nordbrook’s motorcycle struck the left rear of the semi-trailer. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Nordbrook was transported to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, where an autopsy will be conducted today. Rogers was not injured in the crash.

Interstate 70 was closed for approximately two hours while investigators conducted their investigation.

Northwest Fire and EMS and the Ohio Department of Transportation responded to the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Preble County Sheriff’s Office and the Preble County Coroner’s Office.
