Boys’ basketball Eaton basketball opens season 2-0

Eaton’s boys’ basketball team is now 2-0 to start the season. The Eagles followed up their season opening win by defeating Franklin on Tuesday, Nov. 29. Franklin put together a run at the end of the first quarter to take a 15-14 lead, but Eaton bounced back to start the second period. The Eagles opened the quarter with a 7-0 run and outscored Franklin 13-5 in the period to take a 27-20 lead at the half. Eaton maintained the lead in the second half and took a 63-49 win. Eaton will host Bellbrook (1-0) on Tuesday, Dec. 6.

TV South falls to Legacy Christian

Twin Valley South’s boys’ basketball team hosted Legacy Christian out of the Metro Buckeye Conference on Tuesday, Nov. 29., but The Panthers took a one-point lead into halftime, 33-32, but struggled offensively in the second half and fell, 65-45. After scoring 21 points in the second quarter, TVS put up just 12 points in the second half. Junior guard Jace Thuma led the Panthers with 18 points, followed by Chandler Ulrich with 13. Eric Allison added eight points and seven rebounds. The loss drops South’s record to 1-2 overall. They are scheduled to play at Newton in Western Ohio Athletic Conference action on Friday, Dec. 2.

Girls’ basketball T-C North wins third straight

Tri-County North’s girls’ basketball team won its third game in a row defeating Stivers, 60-26, on Tuesday, Nov. 29. The Panthers are now 3-1 on the season, 1-0 in conference play. North jumped out to an early lead against Stivers and led 15-4 at the end of the first quarter. Stivers picked up their offense in the second period, but TCN kept the advantage and led 29-16 at the half. North controlled the second half outscoring Stivers 31-10. Freshman Bella Cherry led the Panthers with 17 points and senior Rilee Terry added 16. North will travel to Tri-Village on Thursday to take on the 5-0 Patriots.

NT picks up double-overtime win

National Trail got 19 points and 13 rebounds from senior Natalie Osswald as the Blazer’s girls’ basketball team defeated Dayton Christian, 51-46, in double-overtime. NT traveled to Dayton Christian on Monday, Nov. 28. The Blazers controlled the first quarter leading 11-4 at the first break. DC came back in the second period and took a 19-16 edge into the halftime. The game remained close in the second half as regulation ended in a 39-39 tie. After a 5-5 overtime period, Trail outscored DC 7-2 in the second OT to take the win. Senior Ashlynne Osbourne added 14 points and seven rebounds. Maddie Harrison pulled down 10 rebounds and added eight points. The win pushed National Trail’s record to 3-1 overall, 1-1 in the Western Ohio Athletic Conference. They will continue in WOAC action traveling to Bradford on Thursday. And then play a non-conference game against Franklin on Saturday.
