PITSBURG—In February, the Pitsburg Fire Department was awarded a grant from the non-profit Brothers Helping Brothers for new fire boots and helmets.

The new leather Fire-Dex boots were delivered to the station on Feb. 27, 2023. Additionally, they received their new traditional helmets on Wednesday.

The department association purchased helmet fronts from Taylor’s Tins using funds generated by fundraisers the association holds throughout the year.

The helmets and boots replaced very dated personal protective equipment that has a lifespan of 10 years per NFPA 1851. This PPE is vital for the safety of our members.

“We are very grateful for the grants we have been awarded in the past eight months from various sources,” the dept. wrote on Facebook.
