Pitsburg Fire Department gets utility apparatus upgrade

PITSBURG – The Pitsburg Fire Department recently took delivery of its newest apparatus. The Utility 1661 is a 2024 Ram 3500HD Crew Cab, Long Bed 4×4 with a 6.4 Hemi.

This apparatus replaced the old Utility 1661 which was a Chevrolet G-Series van with an enclosed utility bed. The old utility sufficed for many years but with the rapidly changing fire service, it has come time to consolidate apparatus to reduce costs as well as provide more versatile apparatus and equipment.

The new Utility 1661 will provide many functions for our community and agency. It is equipped with an AED, basic first aid equipment, a multitude of hand tools, a 9500LB winch along with an array of rigging equipment, a CET 350-gallon skid unit with a Scotty Foam System and 10-gallon foam cell, and a 150-foot booster reel. This apparatus will be placed in service very soon and all of the department’s apparatus and equipment will be on display at our pancake breakfast.

The department would like to thank Vid and Kay at GTA Fleet Solutions/ Front Line Emergency Vehicles Inc. as well as the Village of Pitsburg Council for all of the support and assistance in obtaining this valuable piece of apparatus for the community!
