GREENVILLE – Greenville Lady Wave softball standouts Ella Oswalt and Lizzie Shaffer earned statewide recognition for their outstanding 2026 seasons, with Oswalt being named First Team All-Ohio and Shaffer receiving Honorable Mention honors by the Ohio High School Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association in Division III.
Oswalt, a sophomore, earned First Team All-Ohio honors for the second consecutive season, an accomplishment that Greenville head coach Jerrod Newland called remarkable for such a young player.
“The All-Ohio Banquet was an awesome honor and closure to the OHSAA softball season,” said Newland. “So neat to see all the kids from around Ohio and all the future stars.”

Oswalt was dominant both in the circle and at the plate while helping lead Greenville to the OHSAA Division III Final Four. She finished the season with a 24-2 pitching record, recording 247 strikeouts and a 0.447 ERA. At the plate, she led both Greenville and the Miami Valley League with 10 home runs, drove in 52 runs, and posted a .485 batting average.
“Ella Oswalt first team two straight years to start her high school career is unbelievable and awesome,” Newland said.

Shaffer, a junior, also played a key role in Greenville’s successful season and was recognized as a Division III Honorable Mention All-Ohio selection.
At the plate, Shaffer hit .436 and led both the Lady Wave and the Miami Valley League with 54 RBIs. In the pitching circle, she ranked second in the MVL with a 1.00 ERA and struck out 77 batters in 56 innings of work.
“Lizzie getting All-Ohio this year is awesome,” Newland said. “She had a great year and is very excited for her senior season with her teammates.”

The All-Ohio selections capped another memorable season for the Lady Wave program, which advanced to the state semifinals and finished among the top Division III teams in Ohio.
“Great stuff and my favorite day of the end-of-year awards is being there with 800 people in Columbus to celebrate the awesome high school softball players,” Newland added.
