DARKE COUNTY – The October 2, 2025, regular Darke County Commissioners meeting started at 1:30 p.m. with Commissioners Aultman, Flatter, and Combs present. The Commissioners then approved the minutes from Sept.30th. The examination and allowance of bills for October 2nd totaled $79,631.44 for the General Fund, $275,800.00 for outside funds, and a total of $355,431.44, which was approved.
The Auditor has hired Julian and Grube for Federal Schedule Preparation and Financial Reporting. The hiring was approved, and the total cost was $11,900.
Tina McGillvary from the OSU Extension office provided an update from Mercedes McFarland, the Extension educator; Caden Buscher, the ANR Educator; and herself, the Extension Educator-Family and Consumer Science.
Darke County Grants had 2 fund advances and one OPWC application to submit. The first advance was for the 2024 Airport terminal and fuel tank Demo grant in the amount of $685.00. The second advance was for $48,000.00 for the 2024 Building and Revitalization Grant, and the OPWC Application was for the Ft. Jefferson Sewer Collection System.
The Commissioners then asked for Shannon L. Costello at Coolidge and Wall Co., L.P.A., to prepare a lease for a new Hangar at the airport. Hangar Leases are a specialized field, and under the advisement of the prosecuting Attorney, Ms. Costello was hired for $410.00 per hour, with a total cost not to exceed $ 1,000.00.
The Board of Election Transferred funds in the amount of $1,151.52 to reimburse a line for a software purchase under $10,000.00.
The Prosecutors’ office sent an application to employ Cooper Bowen of Montgomery Johnson, LLP to handle the Jessica Walker petition and complaint for writ of Mandamus appeal.
A rate of pay change was approved for Roda Young, effective Oct. 6th, 2025.
The Sheriff presented an expense request of $175.00 for Brandon Peters to attend a webinar titled “A Deep Dive into Cell Phone Records and Tower Dumps” for in-depth investigations. It was approved.
