ODRC to provide $136,809.00 to prepare a comprehensive Jail Needs Assessment

DARKE COUNTY – The Darke County Commissioners’ September 23, 2025, meeting started at 1:30 p.m. with Commissioners Aultman, Flatter, and Combs present. The Commissioners then read the minutes from the September 18th session. The examination and allowance of bills for Sept. 18th and 23rd were $8,895.72 for the General fund, $103,778.08 for outside funds, and a total of $112,673.80, which was approved.

Two Transfers of Appropriations from the Commissioners were next. They transferred $5,000.00 from other operation to machine and equipment maintenance, and $300.00 to H.R. training and education.

Effective October 1st, the JFS will use the new Prevention, Retention, and Contingency plan that was presented and approved.

Darke County Grants had three fund advances. The first expenditure from the 2024 CDBG grant, for $945.00, was to cover Susan Laux’s annual conference. The 2024 Building/Demo revitalization Grant was advanced $2,452.60 to Turn Key for pre-demolition and asbestos inspections, and the 2025 Brownfield Grant for Treaty Lanes to cover soil and contract consulting was approved for $9,486.00.

A local Jail Agreement for Capital projects was entered by the Commissioners with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction concerning the Darke County Jail Facility. ODRC agrees to provide $136,809.00 to prepare a comprehensive Jail Needs Assessment to evaluate the expansion/renovation of the existing jail.

A rate of pay change was presented for Ditch Maintenance worker Kyle Briner effective Sept. 22nd, 2025.
